Classi Lectures together with Jewish Genealogical Society of Toronto and Anne Dublin – The Bricha: The Jewish Underground Railroad in Postwar Europe

How did Holocaust survivors manage to leave Eastern Europe and find safety in displaced persons camps, mainly in Austria and Germany, after World War II? The survivors weren’t whisked away by a magic carpet. What helped tens of thousands of people was an organization called the “Bricha”, which means “flight” in Hebrew.

This is a lecture about why Holocaust survivors were desperate to flee from their home countries, and the network of people and organizations that helped them. It’s a story of great risk, personal sacrifice, and ultimately, of hope.

May 2: “The Last Train” with Rona Arato
