Over the centuries many great artists have learned by making copies of earlier artists. Often these copies are fascinating and beautiful works of art in themselves and offer insights into both the copyist and the artist copied. Amongst the artists discussed in this lecture will be Rubens, Titian, Vermeer, Sargent, Delacroix, Degas, and Van Gogh.
