Chartwell, Churchill & Blenheim Palace
Sir Winston Churchill, born at Blenheim Palace into the aristocratic Spencer-Churchill family, entered politics via journalism. A talented painter, he collected art at his home, Chartwell, where his and others’ works are displayed. He and his wife famously destroyed an unflattering portrait by Graham Sutherland.
Churchill also enjoyed bricklaying and kept pigs, once remarking, “A dog looks up to you, a cat looks down on you, but a pig looks you in the eye and sees you as an equal.”
