2 Lectures – Wed January 6 and Wed January 20
Churchill’s involvement in the Middle East, starting when he became Secretary of State for the colonies in 1921, is one of the most controversial and understudied aspects of Winston Churchill’s life. He vigorously supported the 1917 Balfour Declaration, opposed the 1922 White Paper limiting Jewish immigration to Palestine, led the fight against the Nazis, and was committed to Israel – then why the controversy about him? What happened during this period?
Trudy Gold will bring to life the stories and personalities of this period that underlies the issues which still exist today.
