In 1997, an unknown novelist had her book published, after being rejected by 11 publishers. But they only printed 500 copies. But 30 years later, it’s been translated into over 80 languages, sold 600 million copies, and earned the writer over $1 billion. The book was Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Need more be said?!
James Bond, created by Ian Fleming, who was a member of MI 6 during the war, also had the idea for Operation Mincemeat (and many others): He said: “I suggest: a corpse dressed as an airman, with documents on him, to be dropped on the coast, from a parachute that has failed. I understand there is no difficulty in obtaining corpses at the Naval Hospital, but, of course, it would have to be a fresh one.”
