Ben Guggenheim and his mistress/JJ Astor and his young wife Madeleine
Benjamin Guggenheim (October 26, 1865 – April 15, 1912) was an American businessman, a wealthy member of the Guggenheim family. He died aboard RMS Titanic when the ship sank in the North Atlantic Ocean. His body was never recovered.
When John Jacob Astor IV died on the Titanic 111 years ago, he was one of the richest people in the world. He built landmark New York hotels like the Astoria Hotel and the St. Regis. Astor’s wife, who was 30 years younger than him, was pregnant aboard the Titanic and survived.
