At the eve of WWII, about 1.6 million Jewish children lived in Nazi-occupied Europe. While 10,000 escaped to Britain through the Kindertransport, only around 500 found refuge in France—a haven that soon became a trap.

In Who Will Rescue Us?, Laura Hobson Faure vividly recounts their stories, drawing on survivors’ testimonies, diaries, letters, drawings, and poems. She reveals the children’s resilience, the Jewish and non-Jewish networks that aided them, and how some ultimately reached safety in America.
