Trial of Adolf Hitler

In Munich in 1923, Adolf Hitler attempted to take over the state. He was put on trial for treason, which should have carried the death penalty. Instead, he was given a light sentence and freedom of a castle, where he wrote his infamous book Mein Kampf.
