The decade of the 1960s was the most important period in the history of art in Canada. It transitioned art institutions from ‘nothing‘ to mature entities. It created a Toronto Art scene consisting of private art galleries, collectors, art critics and academics. It enabled a phalanx of sales supporting full artists. It energized art throughout Canada. All of this was unprecedented, even revolutionary.

In the 1960s Harry was an art critic, writing for Saturday Night magazine, the Toronto Star, and for the Toronto Telegram. Only recently in his 90s, did he realize that what had occurred in the 1960s and that  its transformative events were unknown. As the only individual alive aware of what had occurred he felt compelled to document the era.

This resulted in his book published by the University of Toronto Press Scene: How the 1960s Transformed Canadian Art.
