Leonard Cohen, who died November 7, 2016, was a hugely influential singer and songwriter whose work spanned nearly 50 years. He was a seeker, who throughout his life probed the depths of the human heart – but it was his songs of beauty and melancholy that catapulted him to international stardom and came to define him as an artist.
From Everybody Knows to Hallelujah, his songs resonate and are part of of a whole generation’s psyche.
Born in Montreal, he remains the only Canadian to have received both a Governor General’s Award for Poetry and an induction into the Rock n’ Roll Hall of Fame.
