Vuillard and Friends
Vuillard became part of the Nabis, a group of young French artists including Vuillard, Pierre Bonnard, Maurice Denis, Félix Vallotton, who came together in 1899 under the inspiration of Paul Gauguin and Symbolist theory. They called themselves the Nabis
This lecture will look at the art of Vuillard in the context of the Nabis and the Revue Blanche in the 1890s and will trace his later career as a fashionable portraitist.
