“Art Olympics” People
This lively course about modern and contemporary art greets the forthcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024. It invites you to participate by exercising your ‘discerning eye’ to consider the top performers (gold, silver and bronze medallists) from a range of modern and contemporary works dating from the Enlightenment period to today.
Each week we will focus on a theme: People, Places, Pasts and Perception through an exploration of four case studies. We will examine art works in detail, discussing how they were made, how their subjects have been materialised and how the artists addressed social/environmental contexts.
The course is designed to be a form of keep fit; to stimulate the senses, stretch the imagination, nourish the intellect and transform perceptions. I look forward to joining with you for the Art Olympics in May and June.
