This session will tell the story of the Baal Shem Tov, the Master of the good Name, and those who opposed his ideas, beginning with Elijah the Vilna Gaon. This presentation will also examine the pressures facing the Polish state leading to it being carved up by the neighbouring powers Austria, Prussia, and Russia. Inevitability it gave the Jews new masters.
