Polin, in Hebrew, means “here you will dwell.” This is how Jews used to refer to their country.
As the Jewish communities in Western and Central Europe were suffering persecution and expulsion, a haven was found.
Beginning in the 14th century, enterprising Polish monarchs and nobility realised how Jewish settlement could enrich the country.
