Can Europe and Canada defend themselves without the U.S.?
For many years, both Europe and Canada failed to invest in their defense, relying far too heavily on the U.S.
The return of Donald Trump to the Oval Office acted as a wake-up call. In Europe, the once reliable Franco-British “couple” is back, while Germany has announced a massive plan of rearmament. As for NATO, the Europeans are looking at ways to reduce their dependency to the U.S.
Will it work? And what about the UK and its tradition of “splendid isolation”?
