Three Timeless Literary Giants with David Peimer
September 12, 2024 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT
In these three talks, we will look at why Mark Twain, F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway are three of the American greats. We ask: How do these writers capture the obsessions, fears, hopes and pressures of their age and yet remain timeless? And, how did they truly change literature?
Mark Twain – A writer of his time and timeless
Thomas Edison said: ”An American loves his family. If he has any love left over for some other person, he generally selects Mark Twain”
We will explore Twain the man who spoke his mind, his mastery of writing, and insights into life, the world, and the Jewish people. We will ask: what does he say to us today? And, for Twain, does history show human progression or is it cyclical?
