Catherine de Medici, Lucrezia Borgia and Isabella the “ She-Wolf of France”
These three historical figures all had hugely colourful lives and their reputations are a byword for evil and scheming. What is the real truth? Were they only attempting to survive and overcome in a male-dominated World?
Catherine has a fearsome reputation as a poisoner, black magician and manipulator. In reality she faced huge obstacles. She married and fell desperately in love with Henry, Duke of Orleans, later King Henry II of France. She bore him 10 children, but faced the humiliation of his long relationship with a woman 24 years older than him.
Later after his death she ruled France serving as Regent for her three weak sons and did everything necessary to keep them on the throne.
