Those who emigrated to the US

In the mid 20th century, the Viennese diaspora enriched the English-speaking world. Father of Psycho-analysis Siegmund Freud, philosophers Ludwig Wittgenstein and Karl Popper, art historian Ernst Gombrich, art collector Count Antoine Seilern, singers Richard Tauber and Fritzi Massary, actor Anton Walbrook and publisher George Weidenfeld came to Britain.

While America benefited from the talents of theatre director Max Reinhardt, film directors Josef von Sternberg, Fritz Lang and Billy Wilder, and composers Arnold Schoenberg and Erich Korngold.
