June 4, 2024 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm EDT

Fin de Siecle Vienna 1890-WWI
Vienna was the capital of the 20th century. The intellectual life of the city, its architecture, sights and sounds, and new colors were for a new world waiting to be born. It was a time of charm, elegance, and intellectual progress all born in Viennese cafes.
Viennese portraits – Gustav Klimt, Egon Schiele and Richard Gerstl
While Gustav Klimt celebrated the beauty of Viennese women, Egon Schiele probed the psyche of many of Vienna’s leading intellectuals and artists and before his untimely suicide. Richard Gerstl painted some of the most haunting and disturbing self portraits in Western art.
In the series:

May 28: Architecture and Design in Vienna: From Biedermeier to Secession
