David Peimer

David Peimer is a professor of theatre in the UK. He has taught at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and New York University (Global Division), and was a Fulbright Scholar at Columbia University. Born in South Africa, David has won numerous awards for playwriting and directing. He has written twelve plays and directed forty in South Africa, New York, EU Parliament in Brussels, London, Berlin, Zululand, Athens, Hamburg, Global Shakespeare Congress and more.

His writing has been published widely and he edited Armed Response: Plays from South Africa and the interactive digital book Theatre in the Camps. He is on the board of the Pinter Centre in London and was the first English speaking director in Vaclav Havel’s Prague theatre. He has recently directed Dame Janet Suzman in his last play, Joanna’s Story in London, and The Invitation with Dame Maureen Lipman.
