Former Professor of International History at Liverpool John Moores University, he is author of many books on Germany between 1918 and 1945 – including the bestselling volumes of The Hitler Years – as well as an instantly recognizable ‘talking head’, appearing on numerous television programmes and documentaries. Now, with the third book in the series coming out, we caught up with him to talk about a period of history he finds infinitely fascinating: the Weimar Republic.
