Classi Lectures Trip to Detroit Oct. 19, 2022!

A Brilliant trip!

A congenial group of 12 warm, wonderful women!
We missed Barbara & Stan who couldn’t make it.

We were greeted with “swag” in “Classilearning” bags, got onto a very comfortable large passenger coach & headed off.
Boxed lunches with yummy party sandwiches, berries and treats were most welcome after a quick pit stop!
On to the border – fortunately incredibly easy
– arrived at the hotel to check-in & quick “freshen” and then to Motown Museum.
Great music, great memories when we saw Studio A where everyone played & recorded.
The piano was in terrible shape & when Paul McCartney visited- horrified at losing this history, he donated the funds for the repair & it is now in pristine condition!

Evening was superb dinner at Chartreuse (one of Detroit’s finest!) Delicious food, wine & cocktails & conversation!

Thursday morning refreshed after crashing (!) Sue had arranged for a tour of Detroit with an excellent tour guide who joined us on the bus.
It was an eye opener – from memories of crime-ridden neighbourhoods, with filth & poverty the city is making amazing efforts to improve & it shows.
Detroit also has amazing Art Deco buildings including The Fisher building – stunning.

Quick pizza lunch & then the Exhibition
It was like seeing familiar friends whom you love! Van Gogh in person so incredible!
and couldn’t miss the Diego Rivera murals…it was hard to leave!

Returned with new friends, we did so much in a short time & it was an amazing outing. Can’t wait for next trip!
